Three burly men. One elderly trishaw driver ferrying them. One steep road in Singapore. Think this is an ordinary holiday video?Think again.
This video on the internet surfaced recently and has caused much anger amongst many Singaporeans as it shows an old trishaw rider being harassed by the three foreigners, who think he’s riding too slowly.
And to make matters worse, the video was uploaded by one of the men in the video himself.

Pains and anger was beginning deep within me, accompanied by a rising sense of disgust and indignant while the video was playing.
Incensed at the sheer heartlessness of some people.
Indignant that we have no laws that disallow old fragile people like that uncle to work as such.
I find it highly ridiculous that they had the audacity to post their video up on youtube. With their face shown, obviously, they don’t think any authority will catch them as they are the income generator for Singapore.
How much I wished I could be there stop the three stout ang mohs from bullying the ah pek!
I succumb to immense rage ( almost throw the DS i am holding on to the floor) when one of them goes “$5 my farkin’ arse!” and they end up leaving in the taxi without paying the poor old uncle for all his sweat and effort.
It’s horrible, ghastly, nasty, mean, and totally ‘bastardly’.
SHAME ON THEM!
The sight of the old and frail men toiling at physically demanding jobs just so to feed themselves never fails to incite strong emotions of sympathy and sadness in me.
It were these older folks like him who are the ones whose very hard work and tenacity have made Singapore the prosperous nation like it is today.
I was also motivated. Motivated to make damn sure my grandparents and parents will always be taken care of by me as best as I can.
A big salute to our old trishaw riders and hopefully, we were allowed to pelt rotten eggs on the three bullies!
